Reskilling
What is Reskilling?
Reskilling is the concept of teaching your employees a completely new skill in order to close the skills gap.
What are the benefits of reskilling?
By teaching employees new skills, employers are providing new opportunities for those employees. This will allow opportunities for advancement. This will allow employees options if their current position is being done away with. Employees will feel like they have greater job security.
For employers, it will reduce the risk of having to do layoffs or losing talent. If a job seeker sees that you are willing to invest in your employees and commit to keeping them on longer-term through training, they will be more likely to come work for you. There will be a cost-benefit due to not having to hire new talent that is already knowledgeable in the skills you are looking for.
Reskilling is not the same as "Upskilling."
