Webinar Series: Technology – The Modern Approach to HR Strategy
Admittedly, the topic for my webinar in a couple weeks is one of my favorites (do I say that about every topic?). In my opinion, it does a great job of filling in some technological gaps in today’s virtually dominated world in a way that (hopefully) makes sense to HR Professionals. As I pointed out in my post on Friday, numbers and data lights a fire within in me that I’m sure makes most of you HR folks out there riot in protest to because you tend to be more “people” focused (dare I say intuitive) than my algorithm driven mindset. I’m not here to argue that one is more valuable than the other because, like most things in life, when these two approaches combine you create a symphony for the most balanced hiring tactic possible. Consequently, I can’t ever seem to reconcile why so many of you run from the conveniences extended by web-based platforms. Especially since being in tune with the latest online hiring trends makes for a well-rounded employer.
In today’s post I’d like to touch on a few of the most transformational advances in today’s Internet driven hiring climate.
Know Your Options
Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn receive HUGE amounts of traffic and are some of the most valuable and inexpensive recruiting mediums if you understand how to properly use them. They’re also key indicators for whether or not your employer branding is on par with your company’s expectations for HR.
Attract More Highly Qualified Applicants
We spend countless hours researching the most effective, easy to implement, and FREE strategies that will dramatically boost your qualified applicant flow.
The Power of Analytics
By doing something as simple as inserting a little piece of code on your Career Site, you have extended the opportunity to transform the way you hire. Google Analytics helps you take control of your process by providing you with the numbers you need in order to test whether your efforts are reaping a sizable return. What’s more is that it actually provides you with EVIDENCE to support your claims and back up the requests you make to your executive team. Honestly, without data, you’re going to have a really hard time convincing upper management to make any changes on your behalf.
Mobile Devices are King
Did you know that roughly 80% of job seekers apply for jobs on their smartphones or tablet? In order for you to stay ahead of the technological curve, you need to have a firm understanding of how these percentages affect you. Is your online job application mobile friendly? Is the process compatible for uploading a resume via picture message? If not, you could be missing out on massive potential for qualified employees.
Don’t let inexperience stand in the way of you maximizing your worth as the foremost hiring authority at your company. The more you know, the better equipped you are to face any and all hiring challenges that come your way.
