Position Description
The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Wastewater Operator Trainee. A Wastewater Operator Trainee will assist with the installation, maintenance, inspection, removal, testing, diagnosis, repair, and calibration of water lines, sewer lines, service lines, lift stations, valves, hydrants, meters, valves, screens, treatment plants and related items; Performs preventive and corrective maintenance as assigned; Assists with the collection and testing of water samples; Assists with conducting routine lab testing. Records data; Assists in cleaning equipment, sites, buildings, reservoirs, basins, filters, and process areas; Completes logs and work orders; Performs field inspections of water services; Assists with locating utilities; assists with repairing and reading water meters; Assists with credit/collections issues related to utility services; and, performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent. A valid Arizona driver's license required. ADEQ Operator certifications preferred, and a Grade 1 certification, or ability to obtain a Grade 1 certification within one (1) year from date of hire.

Physical Demands
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium: Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.
Job Information
Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $17.19 Hourly
