ABOUT WAVE OF THE FUTURE PRESCHOOL
Wave of the Future is a child-led, Montessori-based, outdoor-focused, arts & ecology school in Seaview, Washington. At Wave we focus on the whole child and fostering independence, respect and curiosity. We are passionate about connecting children to the outdoors, food, and working artists. We are currently a one classroom school, licensed for 19 kids per day aged 2.5-6 years old.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The next Director will be joining a growing, robust community in our 3rd year as a licensed Montessori-based, arts and ecology school with a progressive outlook to the future.
Please be encouraged to apply if you are not Montessori certified but are Montessori curious and have other relevant educational experience. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about authentic, process based, alternative early childhood education. An ideal candidate would be an experienced education administrator who is also well-versed in the business aspects of running a school. The ability to provide oversight for the implementation of high-quality Montessori education with business decisions is essential. Traits that will serve the new Director will include compassion, adaptability, leadership, collaboration, strong listening skills, commitment to anti-bias education, open-mindedness and flexibility.
Responsibilities include:
Responsible for oversight of entire school program, staff and facilities
15-20 hours a week on site with occasional work-from-home hours
Support teachers/guides with supplies/curriculum needs and their responsibilities
Oversee licensing process and maintain compliance
Regular communication with parents, both current and prospective, including parent conferences 2x/year
Invoice parents and manage state funded reimbursements programs
Coordinate staff licensing & training requirements including scheduling
Maintain policies, parent and staff handbooks
Manage marketing and recruitment, including school tours and tabling at community events
Run staff meetings and professional development/inservice days (coordinating with Assistant Director)
Substitute in the classroom when needed
Coordinate with other Sou'wester & Sou'wester Arts staff as needed
Role model for staff and students
$25-30/hr depending on experience. Approximately 15-20 hours/week, negotiable. Additional teaching hours available if desired. Starting in May 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
Anti-bias training/education.
Experience teaching preschool and/or education administration
Experience and/or training in Montessori education and Positive Discipline
Experience managing staff
Experience grant writing
Very organized with the ability to navigate state agencies and their administrative requirements
Effective at creating systems for families and staff that are collaborative and supportive while balancing a sustainable business plan
Problem solver & community builder
2 years experience in teaching preschool
At least 25 Early Childhood Education credits
Requirements:
6 months experience administration or management
Proficient with email, google documents and spreadsheets
Pass background check and supply a negative TB test pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105
