Job Summary
The Food Service Coordinator (Coordinator) supervises the food service activities for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe Education campus. The Coordinator uses knowledge about food safety practices to create menus that meet program requirements, stay within budget, and are delicious and nutritious. The Coordinator manages and supervises the food production and delivery systems for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) within the Education Department following USDA regulations and requirements.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for collaborating with Education staff for the USDA-CACFP yearly grant application, reports, training and monthly claim submission
- Responsible for ensuring that food services are delivered within budget and participates in food services budget development
- Collaborates with program Coordinators in planning, monitoring and evaluating program food/nutrition objectives and nutrition education for children and families
- Creates, reviews and monitors cycle/working menus and reviews shopping lists and receipts for accuracy and creditable reimbursement analysis
- Creates daily, weekly, and monthly menus to meet USDA-CACFP requirements for up to three meals and two snacks per day
- Serves and prepares meals and snacks for up to 150 children daily
- Supports purchasing and storing deliveries of food and related kitchen supplies
- Assists with Cook and Assistant Cook duties as needed
- Serves as a source of information for families and staff on USDA-CACFP requirements

Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree in food service management, hospitality or culinary arts, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience working as a cook or assistant cook
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in food service management, hospitality or culinary arts
- One (1) year experience working in an educational facility
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
License/Certification
- Must have an Alaska Certified Food Protection Manager certificate, or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric/Adult CPR/First Aid Certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Must have a valid Alaska State Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire

- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, or obtain within 90 days of hire
