RN - Research Coordinator
The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has a current opening for an experienced Research Nurse to serve as lab manager and research coordinator for the research being conducted by Dr. David Darrow at Hennepin Healthcare.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will coordinate the activities of the Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Research Center and the studies ongoing in the lab. This includes lab management, study management, recruiting and screening participants, obtain patient histories, test results, medical exams, imaging studies etc. Performs a number of complex procedures as prescribed studies in the lab. Collects and analyzes data in an organized and precise fashion and maintains data integrity. Applies for grant funding and accurately reconciles grant accounts. Systematically coordinates and organizes protocols while maintaining communication with the Food and Drug Association as well as the Institutional Review Board. Willingly provides team leadership, normally takes lead role in problem solving, regularly assists and coordinates work of other research staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Screens and recruits patients and determines patient eligibility for participation in study via patient histories, test results, medical exams, imaging studies etc.
- Performs a number of complex procedures as prescribed by the study.

- Performs EMG, EEG, EKG, and device testing
- Performs phlebotomy
- Performs physical exams, International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury, Modified Ashworth, and Braden Scale on patients
- Collects and analyzes data in an organized and precise fashion and maintains data integrity.

- May analyze data and prepare precise abstract and manuscripts.
- Applies for grant funding and accurately reconciles grant accounts.
- Systematically coordinates and organizes protocols.

- Accurately writes and revises clinical protocols, consents, and other supporting documents
- Acts as a resource person to other medical staff regarding study protocol and interpretations
- Maintains accurate patient files
- Communicates with the FDA and IRB
- Willingly provides team leadership, normally takes lead role in problem solving, regularly assists and coordinates work of other research staff.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education/Experience:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be completion of a degree and current Minnesota state license as a registered nurse and four (4) years clinical nursing experience, including one (1) year experience with the specific research field. Supervisory experience preferred.

Requires interaction with a diverse population. Skilled in recruitment techniques, physical assessment, problem solving, keeping detailed records and files. Demonstrate a working knowledge of computer applications. Knowledge of research design, protocols and analysis. Knowledge of research design, protocols, and analysis; knowledge of regulatory aspects of clinical research. Ability to work independently, be self-directed and motivated, and ability to communicate with others effectively. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.
