The Office of Attorney General has an opening for a Registered Nurse Investigator in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). Qualified applicants must be a Registered Nurse. B.S.N. preferred along with long term care and home health experience.
Nurse Investigators are expected to carry their own caseload including interviewing suspects and witnesses, conducting on-site visits, reviewing documentation, presenting investigation findings to state and federal prosecutors, and testifying in court proceedings. Job duties include performing medical records review to uncover patient abuse and fraud, analyzing healthcare claims data, providing clinical expertise, and conducting criminal and civil investigations with other MFCU Investigators and Assistant Attorney Generals, Department of Mental Health (DMH), Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), state licensure boards, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG).
Nurse Investigators have the opportunity to be a liaison for MFCU's state and federal partners, to attend meetings/conferences with various community organizations, and to perform community outreach.
Applicants must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent medical judgment. Experience using Excel is preferred. Knowledge of Missouri's Medicaid Program and/or healthcare investigations is a plus. Statewide travel is required. Nurse Investigators shall maintain a license with the Board of Nursing.
