Controller
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all projects related to the Accounting Department. They will establish, maintain, and ensure that the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies are always completed with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Responsibilities
- Develop financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections and accounting services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff.
- Establish and enforce financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to maximize return on financial assets and direct financial decisions
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Oversee and confirm financial status by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
- Maximize return and limit risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments
- Attain budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
- Establish schedules; collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data; and recommend plans to maintain company budgets
- Collect, interpret, and report financial data to provide visibility of financial condition
- Delegate projects and tasks to team to ensure all assignments are completed accurately and efficiently
- Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Protect operations by keeping all legal, financial, sensitive information, and plans confidential
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial/legal reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Oversee general legal activities in the company to ensure compliance, such as Tax and Labor Laws.
- Regularly review department activities and procedures to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvements
- Collaborate with store operations and other cross functional departments in order to successfully launch and manage the implementation of new programs, processes, and/or products
Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Quickbooks, other financial applications
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Have strong leadership skills and able to use it to coach and develop team members
- Self starter with strong negotiation skill set
- Ability to make decisions with incomplete information to meet strict deadlines

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA preferred
Experience
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in Accounting or related field required
- 5+ year of supervisory experience required
- Experience working with multiple legal entities
- Food and beverage, coffee and tea, or restaurant industry desired
